ITS FINALLY HERE! - Square Dance at the South Street Seaport, Thursday April 29th, free and open to the public. Show starts at 6pm, dance begins at 7:30pm. The Dust Busters will play a short set at 6:45pm and then we will play for the dance!

This dance is part of the art and music show OVERSTIMULATED at the South Street Seaport (210 front st., see below) which will be on display for your visual enjoyment throughout the evening.
Dave Harvey is a great caller who is really easy to follow and will teach the dances before each tune. Beginners are totally welcome, no experience is necessary. If you have to left feet bring em both!
THIS SHOW IS NOW ALSO A POTLUCK! so bring some quiche, a bag of chips ahoy, or even just a deli coffee and we'll have a fun feast with friends and music. if you're too broke to bring food then come get some for free!
The evening will start at 6 pm with a potluck dinner and then at 630 The Dough Rollers will play a set of early blues and old time, followed by a set of old songs and tunes by The Dust Busters. Then we'll bring out some special guests and play for the dance around 730.

The Seaport offers us that New York Jewel, a venue with enough space to really hold a great dance, and it's family friendly. Notice the early start time; we're serious about that so come down after work and bring your all your friends and family.

The NYC Barn Dance was created by David Harvey in October 2006 as a monthly event designed to give New Yorkers an opportunity to experience through dance the traditional dance music being played in the city and elsewhere. This experience stands in stark contrast to how this music is often experienced in NYC: at spaces where dancing is difficult or prohibited.

Overstimulated is a student-curated takeover of a commercial retail space in lower Manhattan's South Street Seaport, only a few blocks from the student's university: PACE. A bridge project pulling from the student's own work to those of their mentors and professors, and extending the collaborators that the student's have been experimenting with outside of the university, this large scale group show of peers, faculty, and friends represents and celebrates the transition from campus life into the hustling New York art-world.
Almost 50 participating artists with work ranging from fabric installations, interactive sculptures, live painting, photography, film, collage, drawings, and digital illustrations create an immersive environment to explore and lose yourself in throughout the week's packed schedule of events filled with live music, theater, poetry, and film screenings.
